Window Control & Operation

Material & Durability

The DS1 is built to perform across the full range of Australian climate conditions — from coastal and tropical environments to inland settings where UV degradation and temperature cycling are the primary hardware stressors.

Polesium™ base and housing provides the structural foundation for a component under repeated mechanical load. In a chainwinder, the base and housing absorb the tension and torque of every chain operation cycle — across 30,000 tested cycles on a 30kg window, the Polesium™ structure maintains its dimensional integrity without the creep or fatigue that affects inferior polymer materials under sustained load. UV stability and corrosion resistance are additional properties of Polesium™ that matter for a winder mounted on an external aluminium window frame — but it is the material’s performance under operational stress that makes it the correct specification for the DS1’s base and housing.

Stainless steel chain standard — not galvanised, not plated. Stainless steel is the correct specification for a chain component subject to regular operation and Australian weather conditions. It resists corrosion, maintains tensile strength, and does not degrade the way inferior chain materials do across high-cycle use.

Neutral Salt and Spray tested in accordance with AZTO312.18 and AZTO313.18. Cycle tested on a 30kg window to over 30,000 cycles. Chain pull tested in accordance with AZTO332.18, achieving 3403.9N against a standard requirement of 250N — over 13 times the required pull strength.

Cylinder Options & Keyed Alike

The DS1 is available in three cylinder options to suit project keying requirements:

• DS125 — 5 Disc Wafer Cylinder: Standard keyed configuration for residential and commercial applications
• DS126 — 6 Disc Wafer Cylinder: Higher security disc count for projects requiring increased pick resistance
• DS127 — Multi Key Cylinder: For projects requiring master-key or multi-key system compatibility

All three cylinder options support keyed alike or keyed to differ configurations across keying codes #27001–#27020. For builders and strata managers specifying across a development, keyed alike allows a single key to operate all chainwinders throughout the property — eliminating key proliferation at handover and simplifying ongoing facilities management.

The DS1 can also be keyed alike to other Doric window and door hardware products, consolidating an entire building’s window and door hardware to a single key where specified.

A non-keyed DS2 variant is available for applications where security lockability is not a requirement.

Installation — Easylink System

The DS1 uses Doric’s Easylink fitment system — a one-way chain connection that allows the chain to be detached from the sash plate and reattached without tools. This reduces installation time per window on volume programs and allows the chainwinder body to be installed and adjusted independently of the sash plate connection — a measurable efficiency gain across projects with high window counts.
