Care & Maintenance – Ventus Louvre Galleries

Ventus Louvre Windows have been designed and built for lifetime use. However, preventive care and maintenance is recommended to prolong the life of this durable product.

These valuable tips will help you maintain your Ventus Louvre Windows for years to come.

LOUVRE MAINTENANCE

  • Inspect after installation and then annually.
  • Inspect all screw fixings for firmness.
  • Check all seals are clean and in place.
  • Check all handles for correct operation and note any sign of wear.
  • Make sure all louvres open and close accordingly.

ALUMINIUM

Regular maintenance helps to reduce the rate of weathering of aluminium finishes, the frequency of cleaning will depend on the environmental conditions, but as a guide should be done at 3 monthly intervals, or more frequently in aggressive coastal or industrial environments.

  • Remove loose deposits with a wet sponge (avoiding scratching the surface by dry dusting first).
  • Use a mild detergent and warm water to clean louvre frames. Avoid excessive amounts of water gaining entry into internal mechanisms through the handle notch. Rinse with clean water.
  • Do not use any cleaning agents that contain a caustic base, abrasive materials or chemicals that can affect the surface finishes.

Glass

For best results, regularly clean with a mild, non-abrasive detergent and water. Strong chemicals or aggressive cleaning agents should not be used.

Doric Automated Chainwinders

Doric electric winders are maintenance free, however proper care will extend the life of the winder.

  • Please note, the winders are water resistant and not waterproof all efforts should be made to avoid water entering the winder body.
  • In addition the chain is a dry chain and does not require any lubrication.
  • Adding surface oils, grease or silicones can increase the likelihood of contaminates entering the winder itself and therefore should be avoided.
  • Environmental deposits can cause the surface of the chain to deteriorate prematurely. In addition, the body of the winder should be wiped free of any dust, salt, or environmental deposits to maintain its finish.
  • Doric recommends cleaning the chain with warm soapy water and a soft bristle brush or cloth every 6 months in normal conditions and every 3 months in coastal applications to remove surface contamination
