The finger pocket lip on the internal furniture provides a positive, firm grip for latch operation — functional and deliberate, with no visible protrusion that compromises the door face.

The Umbra suits extrusion widths from 25mm minimum to 55mm maximum, covering the full range of standard Australian aluminium sliding door stile profiles. For extrusions between 25–29mm, a 2mm Black Polesium™ packer offsets the lockbody to accommodate shallow glazing channels — supplied on request. Four fixing screw lengths are supplied matched to the specified extrusion width, ensuring a clean, rattle-free installation across the full range without on-site modification.

Lock Mechanism & Security Performance

The DS2500 Umbra uses a lock body developed specifically for this lockset — engineered on the proven DN1290 platform and refined for flush-mount application. It inherits the DN1290’s twin counteracting beaks and anti-crash mechanism, with the geometry optimised for the Umbra’s concealed installation profile.

Twin counteracting beaks throw to a fully deadlocked position under key operation — active, keyed security against forced lateral and lifting attacks on external sliding doors. For ground-floor entries, accessible entry points, and any external sliding glass door application where security performance is a project requirement, the Umbra delivers deadlock performance, not passive latching.

The anti-crash feature protects the keeper and lock body when the door is closed with force. When the furniture contacts the door jamb, anti-crash engages automatically — the door can be latched by sliding the latch bar within the internal finger pocket, before the key deadlocks the twin beaks into the keeper. This operational sequence protects keeper integrity across the high-cycle use environments typical of residential and commercial sliding doors.

Lockset Configurations — Selecting the Right Specification

The DS2500 Umbra is available in four configurations. The correct selection depends on the required access control and security outcome for the specific application:

DS2500 — Double Lock Set (Interior & Exterior Cylinders) Full keyed access from both sides of the door. The standard specification for external sliding doors where independent key control from inside and outside is required. Uses Cam A (25–45mm extrusion) or Cam B (45–55mm extrusion).

DS2501 — Latch Set (No Cylinders) Internal latch bar operation only — no keyed deadlock. Specify for internal sliding doors and non-security applications where a flush latch mechanism is the requirement and keyed access is managed elsewhere in the hardware schedule.

DS2502 — External Lock Set (Exterior Cylinder Only) Key entry from outside; internal snib operation. Specify for single-occupancy entries or applications where external key access is required but internal keyed deadlock is not — a common configuration for internal-access-controlled entries. Uses Cam A (25–45mm) or Cam B (45–55mm).

DS2505 — Internal Lock Set (Interior Cylinder Only) Internal keyed deadlock with external snib. Specify for internal applications requiring a secured lock from the inside — amenity rooms, private offices, or any sliding door application where internal key control is the security requirement. Uses Cam A across the full 25–55mm range in this configuration.

All configurations except DS2501 use a C4 Pin Cylinder. DS2501 uses a cylinder plug.

Keeper Options — DN1291 or DN1293

Two keeper options are available. Keeper selection is a specification decision, not just a preference — it affects installation method, finish outcome, and alignment process.

DN1291 Flush Keeper — morticed into the door jamb for a fully concealed finish. The keeper sits flush with the jamb face, maintaining the Umbra’s minimal profile on both the door and the frame. Horizontal and vertical adjustment screws allow fine-tuned alignment post-installation. Specify the DN1291 when the project brief requires full hardware concealment on both door and jamb faces.

DN1293 Surface Keeper — surface mounted to the jamb face. Uses a jig-assisted installation process: countersunk screws are loaded into the provided jig, the jig is inserted into the lockbody, and the door is closed with measured force to mark exact keeper fixing positions on the jamb. This eliminates alignment variance and ensures consistent deadlock engagement across volume installations — the preferred keeper for multi-dwelling programs where installation speed and repeatability matter. Requires a 5mm Black Polesium™ packer for horizontal adjustment.

Both keepers include adjustment screws for post-installation fine-tuning.

Finish & Colour

The DS2500 Umbra is available in Satin Black, White, and Silver as standard powder coat colours, with custom powder coat on request — enabling colour matching to the door extrusion for a seamless, flush-to-frame installation finish. What is the difference between DS2500, DS2501, DS2502, and DS2505? 

Each code is a different cylinder configuration. DS2500 is the full double lock set with interior and exterior cylinders — the standard external door specification. DS2501 is a latch set with no cylinders for non-security internal applications. DS2502 has an exterior cylinder only for single-direction key access. DS2505 has an interior cylinder only for internally secured applications. Select based on the required access control outcome, not just the security level.

What extrusion widths does the DS2500 suit? 

The Umbra suits 25mm to 55mm extrusion widths. A 2mm Black Polesium™ packer is required for 25–29mm extrusions to offset the lockbody for shallow glazing channels. Four fixing screw lengths are supplied to match the full width range.

Which Cam Kit should be specified? 

Cam A suits 25–45mm extrusions. Cam B suits 45–55mm extrusions. For DS2505 in its internal-only configuration, Cam A covers the full 25–55mm range. Cam Kit selection is determined at the time of order based on the specified extrusion width.

Is the DS2500 Umbra non-handed?

Which keeper should be specified — DN1291 or DN1293? 

Specify the DN1291 Flush Keeper when full concealment on both door and jamb faces is required. Both include post-installation adjustment capability.

What backset does the DS2500 Umbra use? 

Standard backset is 30mm. Optional extended backset forks are available at 40mm and 60mm for deeper extrusion profiles or non-standard installation requirements. Note: if using the 2mm lockbody packer, reduce the effective backset by 2mm.
